Also known by the names Huskydoodle, Huskapoo, Poosky, and Siberpoo, the Huskypoo is a cross between the Siberian Husky and Poodle breeds. The Huskypoo is characterized by a sturdy build similar to the Husky, along with a furry body like its Poodle parent. It has a round head, hanging floppy ears, and dark eyes. Its coat comes mostly in black marked with white, but can also be found in brown and white.
The Huskypoo has an affectionate temperament and can be highly attached with its family. However, due to its energetic nature it can become aggressive or misbehave out of boredom; especially if left alone for long periods of time. But when given proper care and attention they turn out to be extremely friendly and amicable. Having a protective nature, they can possess a strong ability to sense danger.
Due to the Huskypoo’s energetic and protective character, young children should be supervised by an adult during their interaction. They can also get along well with other pets; especially when raised together. However, due to their energetic and boisterous nature they do not make good pets for the elderly.
Due to their medium, silky coat, the Huskypoo should be brushed on a regular basis to prevent the fur from getting tangled, especially if they have a curly, long-haired coat like their Poodle parent.
Being a Siberian Husky and Poodle cross, the Huskypoo is very active and has high levels of energy and make ideal as working dogs. Therefore, owners should make it a point to provide them with a moderate amount of daily exercise like long walks and playing games. They will do best in homes with a large yard or a garden with plenty of space to run around. However, the yard should be properly fenced or enclosed securely as they are adept at jumping and digging.
The Huskypoo is smart dog and can be a trainer’s delight because of their intelligence. As with other breeds, the Huskypoo should be trained and socialized with people and pets at a young age to avoid problems later in life.
