The NorAussie is a cross between the Norwich Terrier and Miniature Australian Shepherd breeds, and like its parents and can come in a variety of colors.
Being a hybrid breed, the best way to determine its temperament is to research the cross and know you can get any combination of characteristics found in either breed.
Norwich Terriers are active, courageous, affectionate, and are easy to train. These little dogs love everyone and are good with children. Because of their ratting instincts they tend to love anything you toss for them to chase after. If they become bored or lonely they may start to bark or dig. This breed is generally good with other pets such as cats and dogs, but due to their ratting instinct should not be trusted with small animals such as hamsters, pet rats, or guinea pigs. As with other breeds, it is best to socialize and train them starting at a young age.
Miniature Australian Shepherd
Miniature Australian Shepherds are easygoing puppies that love to play. They are also courageous, loyal, and affectionate. They make devoted friends and guardians. Very lively, agile and attentive, they are eager to please with a sixth sense about what the owner wants. Miniature Australian Shepherds are highly intelligent and easy to train. They can become nervous and destructive if left alone too much without enough mental and physical exercise. They need a job to do as the breed is very intelligent and active and thus easily bored. Socialize your dog well when it is a puppy to avoid it becoming suspicious of strangers. Some like to nip people’s heels in an attempt to herd them. They need to be taught herding humans is not acceptable.
