Also called a Peke-A-Tzu, Shih-teze, or Shinese, the Peketzu is a cross between the Pekingese and Shih Tzu breeds. The Peketzu has a flat-face with an oval to round head, black eyes and nose, and floppy ears. They have a light stature, small legs, and a short tail. Their coat is dense and often veils their face, eyes, and mouth. Their coat can come in a variety of colors including black, white, brown, beige, red, or a combination thereof.

The Peketzu is often independent-natured and although they can be good with kids, they might be wary of strangers or other dogs. This trait does, however, make them good guard dogs. The Peketzu is also loyal and protective; loving the company of their family. Due to this, prolonged periods of separation might make them depressed or anxious.

Grooming Requirements

This breed needs regular grooming, such as brushing their fur once a day to avoid matting.

Exercise/Energy Level

The Peketzu loves to play outdoors. It loves to play and run, so it’s best to have a fenced yard where you can release it from its leash and allow it play and run freely. Doing this can release much of its day-to-day stress and keep it happy and light-hearted.

Additional Information

Due to its independent and sometimes possessive trait, the Peketzu can act dominate so be sure to socialize and train it consistently at a young age. It also likes to play, so it is good to keep it busy with its favorite playthings.
