Zuchon (Teddy Bear)

Zuchon (Teddy Bear) Puppies For Sale Animal Kingdom Arizona

Description

The Zuchon, also known as a Shichon, Tzu Frise, or Teddy Bear, is a cross between a Bichon Frise and Shih Tzu. Zuchon or Teddy Bear puppies have hanging ears, round eyes with mostly curly hair and come in a combination of black, brown, and white; which is also why they got the name Teddy Bear. Fluffy, cuddly, and undeniably cute, this is a very new hybrid that is taking the United States by storm. Teddy Bears reach an average height of 9-12 inches from the shoulder and weigh approximately 8-25 pounds fully grown. Their silky coat is abundant and soft and comes in a variety of colors and combinations of black, silver, tan, white, grey and cream. Some Zuchons are remarkably curly or wavy and will grow long if left unclipped. Zuchons are lovable dogs. They are playful and love attention, making them great companions and playmates. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in those breeds.

The Bichon is a popular choice for families for designer puppies by virtue of its low-shedding coat and loyalty and devotion to their owners. Similarly, the Shih Tzu is a companion dog that can’t stand separation. The crossing of these two breeds creates a hybrid that live in its owner’s pocket if it could and is so cute you can’t resist! Unsurprisingly, this teddy bear-like dog is much in demand in America since it was first introduced in the last ten years or so, and it is likely to become much more common. We sell a wide variety of Teddy Bear puppies in our stores in Phoenix and Tucson and they come from elite and dedicated breeders.

Both of the Zuchon’s pedigree parents, the Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise, are bred for companionship, so they possess an intuitive understanding of human behavior, and will adapt their energy levels and attitude to suit the people it spends most time with. This makes the Teddy Bear a great addition to a multitude of family types.

Not all of these designer hybrid dogs are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crossesTeddy Bear dogs and puppies do not shed but they require maintenance with regular grooming. Commonly referred to as hypoallergenic dogs, Zuchons are a top choice of breed for owners with allergy problems although allergic reactions may still occur.

The Zuchon is a toy breed and aside from the fact that the puppies and dogs are absolutely adorable, they are known for their playful, spirited and well-mannered demeanor. The dogs can at times be stubborn, but if you train them well this breed makes a great family pet. They are easy to train and fast learners.

Teddy Bears see themselves as one of the people instead of a dog, which often leads to a tendency to mimic the behavior of their owners, so they can become quite civilized. By introducing basic commands like “sit” at an early age, the owner can lay the groundwork for a sophisticated and obedient dog. This hybrid is also naturally sociable. Give your Teddy Bear plenty of opportunities to charm and meet other dogs. They are happy to be doted on by strangers when socialized well. This is important to do as these puppies are so irresistible they tend to draw a constant stream of admiration from passers nearby. Their social personalities also make them very endearing and lovable.

Teddy Bears are known for their devotion to their owner(s) but they need love and attention in return: this is not a breed that will get along well if left alone for long periods of time. They are sprightly, active little dogs who will never say no to an opportunity to play with enthusiasm. They need a fun and very active owner who can exercise them for at least a half hour every day to keep them fit and healthy.

Grooming

The silky coat of a Zuchon will quickly tangle and knot if neglected, they will need frequent brushing. They also have hair that grows all around their eyes that should be wiped every day with a damp cloth to keep the area clean and prevent infections. Also keep up with their dental hygiene, as these smaller breeds can be prone to developing significant tartar deposits. Get your Teddy Bear used to having their teeth brushed and their nails trimmed at an early age and this will be easy to manage.

Despite their size, Zuchons make fairly good watchdogs and will bark to alert their owner(s) if someone is approaching the home or nearby. They are typically good with other pets especially when they are socialized at a young age. Teddy Bear puppies get along with children, but owners should supervise child/Zuchon playtime to make sure the puppy does not get hurt or harassed by kids because of their small size.

Health

Zuchons or Teddy Bear puppies have great longevity. The average life expectancy is around 12–15 years. The Zuchon, like many hybrids, is usually healthy without showing the congenital defects that some purebreds display if not responsibly bred.

This is especially true if the Zuchon is a first-generation dog. When a multi-generation Zuchon is born, the possibility of health issues increases. Some possible defects known to designer dogs include canine hip dysplasia, deafness, epilepsy, and liver disease.

Disposition

  • The Zuchon has an affectionate and devoted personality. They love living with their owners as a companion dog and do not go for a kennel or do well if left alone for long periods of time since they crave spending time with humans. These traits also make them good with children and other pets.
  • Zuchons are an alert breed, which makes them good guard dogs.
  • They have no hunting instincts, which make them very friendly with other animals.
  • They are happy and friendly puppies that follow their owners lead.
